Teach how animal and plant cells use cellular respiration to extract energy from food. In the first stage a small amount of cellular energy (ATP) is produced without oxygen in the cytoplasm. In the second stage lots of cellular energy is produced using oxygen in the mitochondria. Carbon dioxide and water are produced as waste products that must be excreted.

Our model links several organ systems (digestive, respiratory, excretory, circulatory) with cellular respiration. Terms such as ATP, glycolysis and the Krebs cycle are also introduced. You can also use the model to show cellular respiration in plant cells.
