A great way to show the geology of the Grand Canyon!
The Grand Canyon is a vast and spectacular mile-deep slit in the Earth's surface carved over millions of years by the Colorado River!
Your students will find the Grand Canyon fascinating as they learn how its numerous horizontal layers of different rock types have been laid down over two billion years.
First they make their model using the colourful parts. Then they use it to look at how the Grand Canyon formed and what the layers represent. They will learn that the layers were formed by seas, rivers, dry deserts and entire mountain ranges.
