Model electrodes with moving electrons!

Electrodes (or half cells) are easy to understand with our unique model that shows how electrons and ions behave in them.

Download and print as many times as you want - forever at no extra cost!

Your students first build their easy to make paper models of electrodes. They use these to see how electrical potential is formed by different electrodes and how this is measured using a hydrogen electrode with voltmeter. The differently coloured electrons make it easy to see how the electrons behave.

The model can be used to show zinc electrode, copper electrode and standard hydrogen electrode. It explains the concept of electromotive force (E or emf) and the need for standard conditions.

Optional - you can use the model to introduce the electrochemical series.

Includes full colour Powerpoint class presentation!

Takes about 30 minutes! Model electrode dimensions: 10cm/4in x 13cm/5in

Download includes: instructions, model templates, and Powerpoint presentation.

All you need: paper, scissors and tape
