The Boston Matrix is a simple but powerful business tool for analysing a company's product portfolio. It was devised by the Boston Consulting Group in the 1970's to identify which products were most likely to become market leaders.

It groups products into one of four categories - Cash Cow, Star, Question Mark and Dog.

Our rings model show the how the Boston Matrix is used and looks at its limitations.

First, your students make their rings using the colourful parts. Next, they look at the different categories it uses - Cash Cow, Star, Question Mark and Dog.
