Show your students how apoptosis happens in cells.
Apoptosis (or programmed cell death) causes cells to kill themselves during development, infection and to remove malfunctioning cells. It can lead to cancer when apoptosis goes wrong.
Your students will make a model of the cell signalling pathway that leads to apoptosis. It covers the intrinsic pathway, extrinsic pathway, survival signals and shows how the pathways work together. The role of P53 in preventing cancer is also shown. By using colourful models apoptosis is shown in a clear way.
