With this deck of cards students will learn about different representations of the first 20 elements of the periodic table. They will learn the names and symbols of the elements and how to work out their electronic configurations.

First, your students make the deck of cards.
Then they make the periodic table. They work out the positions of the elements by group and period based on their electronic configurations. They analyse the atomic number to place the element symbol in the correct position. Finally they match the element name with its symbol. Traditional card games like pairs and go fish can also be played to help learn element names and symbols.
