Show the bark beetle life cycle with our interactive model!
Bark beetles are insects that help to decompose dead trees in forests but they can also be a serious pest. Adult beetles lay their eggs in the inner bark (phloem) which the larvae eat damaging the tree. This is made worse by a blue fungus that the beetles carry that can kill the tree.
