Show how plants use the energy of photosynthesis to make sugar from carbon dioxide
The Calvin cycle (or dark or light-independent reactions) of photosynthesis uses chemical energy produced by the light reactions to make sugar from carbon dioxide.
Our innovative model clearly explains the Calvin cycle. Students make colourful models of the key enzymes of the cycle, including the most common protein on Earth, rubisco. They use these to look at how ATP and NADPH are used to reduce carbon dioxide to sugar.
Covers the main steps of the Calvin cycle whilst giving students an insight into protein structure.
