Show a step in human evolution with our fossil model!

Paranthropus are a group of extinct primates closely related to humans. Such human relatives are called hominins. Paranthropus first evolved over 2.5 million years ago in Africa. Three Paranthropus species have been identified and we look at the species Paranthropus aethiopicus with this model.

One of the most famous Paranthropus fossils is the 2.5 million year old “Black Skull” (KNM-WT 17000). It is black because the chemical manganese was absorbed during fossilisation.

Buy once, print forever!

The model shows a fossilised P. aethiopicus skull. It can be used to look at the features that tell us Paranthropus are related to both humans and apes. The skull shows how Paranthropus was similar to us but also had some differences meaning it probably did not evolve into humans.

Great to compare and contrast with our human skull model!

Includes full colour Powerpoint class presentation!

Takes about 30 minutes! Dimensions 15cm x 13cm x 9cm / 6in x 5in x 3.5in

Download includes: class Powerpoint with instructions and colour & mono model templates.

All you need: paper, scissors, tape
