Stem cell research may help slow ageing

Several biotech companies are using stem cell science to try to slow down ageing.

A Nobel Prize winning technique to create a special type of stem cell (induced pluripotent stem cells or iPS cells) is being tested as a way to slow ageing (Nobel Prize link). The benefit of this might be to prevent age related diseases.

However, none of this is going to be straightforward and unwanted side effects could prevent progress (MIT article).
