Transcription speeds up as we age

A recent study (Nature article) has found that the enzyme that transcribes your genes (RNA polymerase) moves faster as we get older. This means it makes more mistakes. If this is due to ageing or causing it is not clear, but it will certainly now be a target for anti-ageing medicines.
